Climb a Tree

This week's theme for Photo Art Friday is "Connected, Connecting, Connections".
This set of photos illustrates a number of sweet connections in my life.
My 2nd granddaughter is the little girl in the photos, so of course I have a strong emotional connection to her.  We are both 2nd born daughters and I loved to climb trees as a kid as well.

I also feel a deep connection to our Creator in the great outdoors and feel energized, inspired, renewed and rebalanced after even a short nature break.

"Climb a tree  . . . it gets you closer to heaven."
~Author Unkown

I am still learning a lot about my photo editing software and enjoy exploring all the possibilities. The photo above also makes use of Bonnie's "DreamWonder Texture".

I sure miss the days when I could do this myself but I am known to unashamedly hug a tree and listen to its silent song.

"The trees are whispering to me, reminding me of my roots, and my reach . . . sshhhh . . . can you hear them?  Selflessly sharing their subtle song."

  2. These are all such great photos - art, really. I used to love climbing trees. There's something private about being up in a tree. Your granddaughter looks like she's having a wonderful time up there.

  12. These are great. Your granddaughter appears to be truly enjoying her tree time. I have climbed a tree in years but do recall the memories of how fun it was. Love the different ways you captured her. My favorite was the 3rd one.

  13. each of these is as exquisite and precious as a snowflake. I love the story they tell, YOU've told, and the way the entire piece sings. it is so heartening to meet a fellow tree-climbing tree-loving spirit!!

  14. This is simply exquisite in the pictures you share and the story you tell. I will forever think of you when I hug a tree as we share in our love of nature ... we are all connected through nature and our Creator and your words portray it perfectly.

    1. Thank you for your kind words . . . my software is PhotoPlus X4 from Serif in the UK. I used a comic book filter and then adjusted the levels, brightness and contrast until I was satisfied. I don't know if there is something similar in PhotoShop but I have heard that they are quite similar programs. How you are able to figure it out.

  16. Wonderful images - I, too, love trees and the sense of connectedness that they provide! I initially fell straight for the first image; its starkness really appealing to me, but I must admit that in the long run I think it's the final shot that's going to stay with me. It's got such a wonderful angle and perspective, and feels rock steady and full of explosive motion at the same time; connecting opposites... I love it!

  17. Well! Beautiful edits and words Andrea. Loved them all - probably the one with the summer brown legs dangling from the branch is my favourite. These bring back many memories or tree climbing as a kid...a huge evergreen in Kenya that I had forgotten all about; a pear tree in southern Ontario popped to mind; and a faded impression of lying on a giant branch above a green lawn with the leaves rustling in the breeze all around me.
