Buy Hyacinths

                       "If, of thy mortal goods,
 thou art bereft
And from thy slender store
two loaves alone to thee are left,
Sell one and from the dole
buy hyacinths to feed the soul."
~ Muslih-uddin Saadi

This last week whenever I step outside I am arrested by their heady perfume.
As it washes over me I stand still, breathe deep and release a joyful sigh before carrying on with my day.

Be still and know that I am God
Take time to look around and see
The beauty blooming everywhere
All nature speaks of Me.

  1. Beautiful, Andrea. I love hyacinths and thought I had some planted in the yard, but alas, they are no longer here (or not coming up). Next year I'll get some more.

I love the poem you wrote, truly, Nature speaks to us of God's love and grandeur. We have a beautiful God.

  2. The beauty of this post to the beholder is overwhelming, probably much like the fragrance that meets you as you "go on your way". Last night my husband and I were walking our neighborhood at twilight and the air was filled with the perfumes of budding plants and trees. My husband, in his maleness, said, "Do you smell those funny smells?" All I could think was, "How glorious!"

My Scripture and a Snapshot today is from Romans 1:20b
"Through everything God made they can clearly see His invisible qualities--His eternal power and divine nature"

I love your poem at the end. It says it all,
    Dawn

    1. Maybe one day I will have the chance to walk through your neighbourhood with you at twilight. You just never now. But I would like that very much.

  4. I had to smile at Dawn's reply here...Her husband saying, "Do you smell those funny smells!"

This is filled with loads of what I need to start my Saturday morning! Your joy and beauty spills over. Isn't God good to bring such encouragement!
The poem is delightful! as is your scripture to end it off.

    1. Thank you, Cristal . . . indeed so much variety of design, colour, texture, fragrance demands there be a designer.
