Gather Honey from a Weed

Well here it is, late Saturday afternoon and I am racing to put this together so I can link up with Bonnie at Pixel Dust Photo Art.  I have been wanting to join in the fun over there for some time but needed to upgrade my skills a bit first.  I had never worked with layers before today so this is very elementary work but hey, you have to start somewhere.

With this shot, I removed the texture from all but the rose petals and am quite pleased with the results.
So there you have my first attempts at layering textures and using tools to erase different sections. Keeping it short as I only have a few minutes before the linky expires.

Thanks, Bonnie for the free texture "Brown Rice Paper".

  1. Your rose and buds are paraticularly lovely. The definition of the leaves and petals superb. Love how the texture brings out the beauty of it all.

  2. Lovely editing work! Love the feel of the first one and the painterly look of the second. If these are your 'first attempts' we can only expect some incredible work in the future. Thanks for sharing with Photo Art Friday, Andrea. Hope some of the participants return to take a look at the later submissions.

    1. Thanks, Bonnie. I have worked some with levels adjustments and one-click effects but have finally sat down with the manual for the photo editing software I have to try to become familiar with the array of tools and working with layers. Thanks for all the encouragement you give and the gathering place you have provided.

  3. Well done Andrea. I love the two-tones in your first piece and in the 2nd I love how you left the texture on the rose (clever idea) and erased it off the rest of the photo. It made the rose really stand out. Keep up the great work.

  4. Your photos are so beautiful, Andrea. Eliminating the texture from all but the petals results in a very interesting photo. Looking forward to more beauty as you learn.

  12. Andrea- It took me at least 3 months to figure out layers. I think you may be teaching us all a thing or two very soon. These are quite lovely. Sorry I am a bit late visiting.
