5 Minute Friday - "Relevant"

5 Minute Friday is all about writing, free and fast . . . letting the words spill onto the page without backtracking and editing to perfection.  Lisa Jo, the Gypsy Mama is the host of this Challenge and has given us "Relevant" as the prompt for this week's edition.  All the details are posted at her site.  We would love you to play along . . .

Ready . . . GO!

The Bible, Holy Writ, Scriptures, The Message, Ancient Words, Sacred Pages

All references to the Word of God.

Its relevancy questioned by many, mostly by those who don’t read it.
How can words penned thousands of years ago be relevant in today's society?
Times have changed so dramatically, it is argued and the practices and principles are deemed obsolete.

But I would argue  . . . “Not so”
Have you never needed wisdom . . . Proverbs is full of it.
Comfort?  . . .  embrace the Psalms.
The early books of the Pentateuch tell the stories of people who struggled with issues just as we do . . . lying, stealing, jealousy, fear, compromise, selfishness and more.
If we approach His Word with open hearts, we will find it absolutely relevant as He speaks directly to our need.

“Ancient Words, ever true
Changing me and changing you
We have come with open hearts
O, let the Ancient Words impart”
STOP!

So true. I've been told by a couple of friends that they don't read the bible because they think it tells a "violent story". I think it's a raw story, a true story of who and what we are and it contains all the wisdom we need to face life and death and everything in between... but obviously I can only say that because I DID read it. :)

  4. The Word will always be relevant... whether one chooses to make it relevant in their lives is another matter!

  5. I like that you gave 'examples' of the Bible's relevance.

  8. Dear Andrea Dawn,

It is almost mid-morning, but I arise and come to your page. Ancient Words and your words about those Words...just a brief 5 minutes and I was ready for the worship music at the end. As Susan said, "My heart can rest..."

God bless you today, my friend,
    Dawn

  9. His words tried and sure, comforting to my soul.
Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried:
    You've written this so well.
